Louvre roof system for The Lounge terrace outdoor bar & dining area

The Lounge rooftop terrace at the Univeristy of NSW has recently undergone a transformative upgrade to provide an inviting and versatile space for staff and visitors to entertain throughout the year. Partnering with Blindmaster, the university installed a Renson louvre roof system above the existing timber framed pergola, turning its rooftop into a stylish, weather-resistant area that can be enjoyed regardless of the elements.

Traditionally used for casual gatherings and social events, the rooftop space at UNSW now benefits from this advanced roofing system, allowing it to be fully functional in sun, rain and cooler conditions, significantly enhancing its usability and appeal.

Benefits of the New Outdoor Covering System

Flexible Use of Space: The Renson louvre roof, with adjustable blades, offers precise control over sunlight and airflow. Covering approximately 120 square meters, the system can be fully opened to enjoy sunshine or closed to shield against rain and wind.

Protection from Weather: Even during unpredictable weather, the roof provides a sheltered environment, enabling outdoor dining and socializing to proceed uninterrupted. When the weather allows, the louvres can be tilted open to let in fresh air and natural light, maintaining an open-air atmosphere.

Design that Complements the Campus Aesthetic

A key aspect of the project was ensuring the system blends seamlessly with the university’s modern architectural style. The sleek, contemporary design of the Renson louvre roof complements the existing structures while adding a sophisticated touch.

Professional Installation and Precision Engineering

Implementing a large-scale outdoor upgrade like this demands expert craftsmanship. The UNSW team worked closely with Blindmaster to ensure a seamless, high-quality installation. The outcome is a durable, stylish outdoor rooftop space that enhances the social and dining offerings of The Lounge outdoor terrace throughout the year.
